Navy to host Prez Fleet Review and Milan in Vizag

The Indian Navy will host President's Fleet Review and MlLAN-multilateral naval exercises in Visakhapatnam in early 2022.

This was disclosed at the ceremonial parade organised by the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. The parade consisted of platoons of naval personnel drawn from various ships, submarines, establishments and Defence Security Corps.

Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC took the salute and inspected a 50-men armed guard. The parade was attended by officers and sailors of ships and establishments based at Visakhapatnam.

Naval veterans witnessed the parade as special invitees. The parade concluded with the singing of the National Anthem by all present. The occasion was also utilised to felicitate naval veterans above 75 years on the 75th Anniversary of India's Independence being celebrated across the country as 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.'

Vice Adm Singh said that ENC would be hosting two major events in Visakhapatnam-the Presidential Fleet Review and Milan in early 2022.

He urged everyone to prepare earnestly for these mega events to further enhance the prestige of the Indian Navy and the nation. He also mentioned that the State Government has assured the ENC of its full support for these prestigious events.

The ENC chief said that despite unprecedented challenges posed by Covid, personnel of the ENC ensured combat readiness for operations at sea, underwater, or in the air including maintenance of the operational assets and support functions ashore thereby ensuring high operational tempo.

He highlighted the command's contribution towards nation's fight against Covid by providing assistance in terms of setting up Covid Care Centres, medical aid to veterans, training and operationalisation of oxygen plants, provision of mobile oxygen plants, and ferrying of oxygen and other relief equipment from overseas in large quantities

At another event at the 'Victory at Sea' War Memorial on the Beach Road, Vice Admiral Kalidoss Srinivas, Project Director, Ship Building Centre, Visakhapatnam placed wreath a paid tributes to brave warriors who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation.
